We invite small businesses and other local organisations located in rural towns to collaborate with postgraduate students enrolled in the DCU Business School MSc in Digital Marketing programme. Each participant will be matched with a student responsible for constructing a website tailored to the business’s or local organisation’s needs.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for participation in this project, your business or local organisation (1) must not currently possess a website OR (2) has a basic website (e.g. using Google Sites) and are open to a complete redesign. Additionally, either the business owner or a designated point of contact should be available for approximately one hour every fortnight to liaise with the student and review project progress.
Project Deliverables:
The student will produce a brochure-style website compliant with contemporary web standards. The content—both text and images—will be either supplied by you or sourced by the student.
By the end of the project, the business or local organisation will need to have a domain name and hosting for the website so that the student can transfer the website.
Students will train the businesses via Zoom how to maintain the website.
Project Timelines:
The project is slated to commence in the week beginning 25th September 2023 and is expected to conclude with the delivery of the website in the week starting 11th December 2023.
Financial Contribution:
Although the students will execute the project at no financial cost to the business, there may be nominal expenditures associated with the purchase of essential website technologies. The upper end of these costs is c. €250 depending on the following:
- Domain name: This will be a recurring annual expense for the business.
- Website hosting: This will also be a recurring annual expense for the business.
- Website theme and plugins.
Project Selection:
We are prioritising small businesses and local organisations located in Town Centre First towns, and projects will be allocated on a first come-first served basis.
